Great Things the Lord has Done

We just finished our revival!! It was terrific. We rented two vans and brought our people from "Las Uvas" to join us each night. It was the first time for them to be with their mother church. There were about 25 of them that came each night. Our little church was packed to the gills and filled with God's presence. Our H.I.M. pastor from Nicaragua, Julio Villareyna preached and Nemecio, a man from his church sang. God used these guys in a tremendous way. Our church people were refreshed and strengthened spiritually and there were two converts from "Las Uvas". We just give the Lord all the praise for what He has done. We are truly blessed!

Baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost

This past week was one of the most exciting weeks of my life!! We started revival Wednesday night through Sunday night. Thursday we worked on the church in "Las Uvas". We were also celebrating our 1 year anniversary as a church and Saturday I baptized seven new believers!!! It doesn't get much better than that! Here we are with our group of seven. They have been studying a basic doctrine class for six months. This was a very very special time. We found a beautiful spot along a small stream that even had huge waterfalls. The day was perfect and we had the river to ourselves. We could feel God's presence as they each gave their testimonies to God's saving grace and as we sang a few choruses. I just love baptisms. There is just something about them. There were close to 50 people that attended. We bused our people from "Las Uvas" so they could be part of the celebration too. Afterwards we ate rice, beans, chismol, and beef kabobs celebrating the bapstims and our church's anniversary!! What a very special day!! I'll never forget it.

Upward and Onward

I have been so impressed with how these guys have been working on the church. Our people are so excited to finally have a church of their own. It has also been a lot of fun working along side these guys watching and learning. None of them can read. But even though they aren't educated they are very intelligent and hard working. They are very practical. Tomorrow we are planning on putting up the rafters and sometime this week put the roof on, I can't wait!!

The Work Has Begun!

This piece of land doesn't look like much right now it just looks like rocks and desert. However, this place has a bright future. It's right in the middle of an area that is being devoloped. Lots of new houses are going up and big plans are in the making. Right now we are the only church in this area. Today we set the posts for our church building. It was sooo exciting!! The people attending this church are very poor. There may be one adult who knows how to read and write. But these guys know how to work! They are donating all their time and work for this church. They worked hard all day long. We had to pick holes for the posts out of the rock. These guys are experts when it comes to rock and cement. But, it was hilarious to watch them use my electric saw. It was a foreign object to them. They only have hand saws. Several of them took turns cutting the beams and the whole time they would yell instructions to each other as to how they should cut the wood. haha.
We finished setting all the posts, and on Thursday we are going to set the rafters and start working on the roof. Pray for this new ministry and for this project!

"Wood" You Believe It??? Another Miracle!

Today was an extremely exciting day. We purchased our first batch of materials to begin building a shelter for our church people in "Las Uvas". Since November when we began holding services, we havn't had a permanent shelter. Most services have been held in the open air. Our church people here in Tiloarque have held two garage sales and also helped with a chop sewey sale to raise money for this project. Out of those sales they raised enough money to buy all the wood for the framing of the building. We are planning to build a pool building. A simple wood frame with a tin roof that we will eventually close in. Just two weeks ago we got the deed to the property where we will be building. The land, with a $25,000 value, was donated to us in order to build a church. Tomorrow we are going to set the first post! We can only imagine what God is going to do with this new work in the future!!

The exciting thing is, this effort has been completely supported by our church people. We havn't had to raise any money from the states. God is teaching our new believers their responsability in church planting.

Pray for Revival

This week we start revival Wednesday thru Sunday with our H.I.M. pastor from Nicaragua, Julio Villareyna. We are looking forward to some great services. Saturday we will be baptizing six candidates and also celebrating our 1 year anniversary as a church. How exciting! It's hard to believe the church has been going for a year now and continues to grow. Keep these special services in your prayers throughout this week.

Mission Accomplished

"A Church Planter's Journey" has finally been filmed and now it's off to the editing process. We want to thank God for His help, He gave us good weather, good shots and a great team. We also want to say a big thank you to Scott and Jon for all their time and efforts. Both of them took off work to come down here and shoot the video. It was a big sacrifice on their part and we want them to know we deeply appreciate it. They both did a tremendous job. And thanks to all of you who helped to pray, we felt those prayers. Our hopes is that God will use this project for His glory and call others to His harvest field.

Spanish Fortress

While Scott and Jon were here, we did have a little free time on Friday to visit an old Spanish fortress that dates back to the mid 1700's. The Spanish had used it as a defense against pirates.

3-2-1 Action!

We are so excited about a new project that is in the making. It was an idea I have had in the back of my mind for some time now. Jon Plank and I have talked about it on occasions but I don't think we ever thought it would happen anytime soon. We are planning on making a documentary of our first term on the mission field, along with a few "extras" thrown in that will hopefully make for an interesting dvd. In just a few more days Jon along with my brother Scott will be coming for nearly a week to shoot the video. This is new territory for all of us and I'm sure it's going to be a lot of fun figuring it all out. Pray for these guys and for this project that it would be a tool in God's hands to bless others, call young people to Christian service, and encourage more prayer support. We want it to be something that will glorify God. It's going to be hard work but a lot fun! We hope to have "A Church Planter's Journey" ready by early April. Stay tuned for more!

Ministry Update

I'm really falling behind when it comes to blogging. I don't know maybe I lost interest, or maybe I'm too busy or maybe both, not sure. Anyways there has been some encouraging things happening. We are gearing up for our deputation March thru September. I have the bulk of our services scheduled, now we have to get all our pr material together, that will take some time (and money). The church has been growing. The last two Sundays we have averaged about 26 in the mornings. We have eliminated our 2:00 afternoon Sunday school class and Hannah is now teaching class on Sunday mornings while I'm preaching. She is doing a great job and the kids love it! It is working so much better that way.
I have about 6 people I'm discipling for baptism. I hope to have them baptized by the time we leave for the states. Pray for them.
We are still meeting with our other group on Saturdays. There are four converts there that we are working with as well. We would like to construct a metal roof hopefully this month, so we have a more permanent place to meet and we don't have to worry about rain.
God has been really helping us in our services. People are seeking God, many our testifying that God has really been changing their lives. One of the couples that got saved have quit their drinking, they come to church faithfully and have made a complete turn around, it is so exciting. Another couple are under conviction concerning adultery. They have lived together for eight years. Please pray for them. It is a real struggle. It is a hard web to untangle but God is definitely helping them. They have made good progress.
Hannah and Joseph are both doing good. It seems like every time we turn around Joseph makes another mess or breaks something. I guess that is normal for a two year old. He loves to help me with whatever I'm doing. He imitates a lot of what I do, it is so funny. He is growing so fast.
Thanks so much for all you do. We appreciate those of you who sent extra support during Christmas, for the cards and gifts and all the little special things you do. It means so much. Continue to pray for the ministry. It's growing and God is blessing. We are so happy serving the Lord in Honduras, we wouldn't want anything else!

Thank You Libby!

While we were in Nicaragua, the team from the states brought a gift from our good friend Libby Snyder in Hobe Sound. A real nice overhead projector. Thank you so much Libby. We love it. I used it as soon as we got back to show pictures to the church people of our trip. Thanks a million!
