We had a wonderful marriage seminar this past weekend. I had been thinking and praying about such a seminar last year when I got a phone call from Bro. Dykes saying that Butch Heath and Philip Burch were available to come in January. What an answer to prayer!! We had a good turn out from both of our churches as well as Daniel and Tiffany Melton, missionaries with EFM. It was an awesome weekend. Each seminar touched on a topic that our couples needed to hear, we discussed anger in marriage, wisdom for husbands, wisdom for wives, communication and lots of other things. During the last session all the married couples renewed their vows to each other. One of the ladies said later that it felt like she was starting her marriage over again. Hannah worked hard all weekend taking care of snacks and food for everyone, on Saturday and Sunday we had two big meals for all the people. Joseph had a blast playing with all the kids.

We just thank the Lord for his help and we want to thank Bro. Heath and Bro. Burch for doing a tremendous job. This seminar really helped to establish our couples. One man said, "I used to think that my wife was the problem and I was constantly trying to change her, but now I realize that I'm the problem and I need to change". That couple has changed and we thank the Lord!!! It was a great weekend. read more

On Monday we all went site seeing. There really isn't a whole lot of places to visit around Tegucigalpa but there a few neat little things. One town we visited is called Valle de Angeles. They have lots of little shops where you can buy souvenirs. It's a very pretty town with an old colonial style. After buying souvenirs we took everybody to a look out called Picachu. There is a statue of Christ there that overlooks the city as well as gardens and a park. It's an amazing view.

Saturday, January 9th was a milestone not only for a special couple but for our ministry as well. It was my first wedding that I have had the privilege to perform. Mike and Lourdes attend our Las Uvas church and God has really been helping them in recent months. They have lived together for fifteen years. It was a circle of sin. They were constantly fighting, and the home was very dysfunctional. They both prayed and started attending church and have been trying to get their life straightened out. But it was tough getting established when they continued living in fornication. Yet, they were afraid of the cost of getting married. They had to have a civil wedding first for it to be legal and there was quite a bit of paper work to be done. I had several counseling sessions with them and they both agreed they wanted to get married and have a happy home. They chose the 9th for the wedding. So we had to have the civil wedding the day before. Well, this was all new for us, I didn't know how they did weddings here, it was a great learning experience. We started their paper work but it didn't look too promising. Several papers couldn't be returned to us until Wednesday two days before their wedding. We had to have all these papers in on Wednesday by noon if they were going to be married on Friday. We were really praying. Thankfully after several hassles we got the paper work done and in on time for their civil wedding. God answered prayer!

Saturday afternoon we had the religious wedding at the church. Family and friends came from all around. There were probably close to 90 people there. The church was decorated with pine needles for the aisle, a pine arch and blue ribbons around the walls. It was very simple but yet very special. Our people helped them with their dresses, shoes, and I loaned Mike one of my suites. Mike has been out of work for the past week and didn't have a red cent in his pocket but God provided everything for their wedding. It was a real miracle!!

Hannah worked hard on the wedding cake. This was her first wedding cake ever!! She was very nervous but did a fantastic job. The people loved it. Joseph tried to help out in the kitchen when she was working on it and couldn't wait to eat it!! He kept talking about it all day long.

All in all it was a very special day. This has really helped Mike and Lourdes get their feet down, they are in a situation now that God can bless. Out of all the people that live in the area of the church there is only one other couple that is married, but they are separated. Mike and Lourdes is the only couple that are married. This is a huge step for them and a bright and shining testimony to their friends and relatives! read more

This year we kinda had a "last minute" Christmas. You see when I went to South Dakota I took advantage of the opportunity to go to Wal-Mart so I came back with a suitcase full of presents. The sad thing was my suitcase never showed up in Tegucigalpa, for some reason they left it in Atlanta. So they said to come back on Christmas Eve and maybe it would be here. It didn't show up on Christmas Eve either. Finally on Christmas day I was able to pick up my suitcase run home and wrap up the presents. Thankfully everything worked out and we had a really nice evening opening gifts together. I do have some pictures of Hannah but she is blogger shy. Sorry. All in all in was a nice Christmas! read more

For our Christmas dinner this year we decided to celebrate at Las Uvas with both church groups. Food always helps to draw a crowd and this time was no exception there were about 70 people. Hannah had the kids perform the play again because most of the people didn't get to see it at Tiloarque, they really enjoyed it. Then we ate a traditional menu of pork leg, salad, and rice. One of the highlights of this Christmas was the play. Hannah worked really hard with the kids and did an excellent job. We had young people from both churches working together. The night of the play we had a good turn out with several people here visiting for the very first time. It was a real blessing and the parents were so proud of the job their children did. One of the ladies in our church made all the outfits and they turned out really nice. read more

Ok so my trip home from South Dakota was somewhat difficult. First of all I left Sioux Falls on Monday afternoon for St. Paul Minnesota but we were delayed because we had to de-ice the plane. We sat on the runway for a good hour before we could take off. So when we landed in St. Paul my flight to Atlanta had already left, I was supposed to have spent the night in Atlanta but instead I was stuck in St. Paul. So Delta gave me a number to call and get a discount on an area hotel. So I found the shuttle to go to the hotel and when I walked in my room I was stunned. It was one of the coolest hotels I have ever stayed in. Very nice. So I guess it was a blessing in disguise. I couldn't enjoy it long because I had to be up at 3:00 to catch my 5:20 a.m. flight to Atlanta. However, we didn't leave at 5:20. Our plane didn't get to the gate until 5:20 needless to say we landed late in Atlanta. I almost had a heart attack running through the airport trying to catch my flight to Tegucigalpa. Atlanta airport is huge and you have to take a train to get to the different terminals, by the time I got to the terminal my flight was long gone. So Delta was kind enough to change my ticket for the next morning, give me food vouchers and pay for my hotel. So I had all day to explore Atlanta. So after dropping my bags off at the hotel I took the train from the airport to downtown Atlanta. I have to say that this city was one of the nicest and cleanest cities I have ever seen. I was very impressed. My first stop was CNN headquarters. Now I'm not a CNN fan, I'm a Fox faithful, but hey it's Atlanta and I had time so I thought I would take a tour of CNN. It was actually very interesting. When you first go in there is a huge food court and stores. Starting on the second floor and up are the offices. The tour took us behind the scenes to see how things operated. We got to see "The Newsroom" the brain of the whole operation. We saw several anchors shooting live. It was so neat to see how news is made and broadcast.

After my CNN tour I headed to Olympic Park. It was very relaxing. Nice fountains, monuments that kind of thing. On the other side of the park is the Coke company. It was here in Atlanta that John Pemberton invented Coca Cola so I took a tour of the Coke museum. I highly recommend it. Very cool. They take you through the history from the pharmacy to a world wide product. One of the best parts of the tour was a room that had soda fountains with coke products from around the world. You can go around taste tasting the different kind of drinks that Coke makes from different parts of the world. One of my favorites was the drinks from Asia. Very good stuff. The worst was Africa, it was really weird.

By the time I finished the Coke tour it was dark and I was tired. So I stopped by the "Underground". A famous shopping area in downtown Atlanta. I grabbed some supper there and headed back to the hotel. It was a fun day in Georgia.
