The Work Goes On

After nearly four months of construction we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel(literally).
The ceiling has been finished and they are now installing the lights. All free of charge. Our landlord even said he would buy us paint to paint the inside. What a miracle. It will be a perfect place for our Sunday school classes and eventually church services. Thank the Lord for His abundant blessings.

A Special Visit

We met Josè a few weeks ago when he picked us up in his taxi. He is very interested in helping us and would like to also plant churches. A few days ago he took us to his sister´s house for lunch. We had a really nice time getting to know them.

Home

From this little house on the corner come several of our Sunday school children. They live right along the main road so they often wave to us as we go by.

Along the Way Home

I took these shots out the bus window on my way home from language school today. The market is a very interesting and exciting place. It´s wheelbarrows of fun!!! Sorry I just had to say that. haha

A Fruity Flag

I always knew that my state flag was good for something. It´s not easy to see in this picture but the tarp covering this fruit stand is made up of about four Pennsylvania flags. Apparently there must be a factory here that makes these flags and somehow they were able to obtain an uncut portion to use as a tarp. Hey, it works great and the fruit is delicious!

New Chairs

Two Sundays ago I was embarrassed to have two adults come to Sunday school and we didn´t have enough chairs. So to avoid this problem from happening again we bought twelve new plastic chairs to add to our classroom. This past Sunday every single one of them was filled. We had seventeen attend.
The people are mesmerized with the flannelgraph. They have never seen anything like it. They thought maybe I painted it, one lady even said it was a nice decoration for the room.

Game Night

Tuesdays and Saturdays are days for the kids to come and play games at our house. They really like the game of Rummikube. They have also learned the games of Mancala and Connect Four. They really look forward to these times.

It was beautiful today in the little garden behind the language school. The birds were singing their hearts out.

A Good Sunday

We had a good class on Sunday. A total of 21 attended including two adults. They really enjoyed the new flannelgraph. The kids were glued to their seats the whole time I was telling the story. Afterwards we played a little toss game using questions from the story. It was just throwing a ball into a bucket but I tell you what, these kids were really into it!! Screaming and shouting for joy on every point their team made. It was a fun competition.

Hannah to the Rescue!

Hannah has been busy lately being nurse. One of the Sunday school girls burned her hand real band, so she has been helping her. Yesterday Leo, ( the boy in the picture ) cut his leg on a nail. She is a very good nurse. She bandages the wounds with tender loving care.

Funeral

A few days ago several buses pulled up in front of our house. People from all around the community began to get on, cars were also filling up with people all headed to the same place. I didn't know what was going on, so I asked. It was a funeral. They were all going to the cementary. The lady asked me if we usually have big groups that attend funerals in the states. I said, " well, not quite like this". Every friend, family member or acquaintance it seemed were all going to the cementary. They had to bus them out. You would have thought the president died.

It´s Here!

A big thanks to my mom and dad, uncle Gerald & aunt Sarah Hoch, my cousins Lorrie Rich & Pam Brought and their families for all going together to purchase a set of flannelgraph for us!!!
We were so excited to finally recieve our much anticipated gift. We only had to pay a dollar to get it out of customs!!
The kids are going to love it. They probably have never even seen flannelgraph before. Thanks so much for this special gift!! We will put it to good use.

Spending Time with the Kids

A few days ago some of our Sunday school children came over and wanted to play soccer. So we went and spent some time together. They visit us quite often, just about every day. Yesterday one of the girls said she thinks she has a new friend coming to Sunday school this coming Sunday. I was excited to hear that!!
During our soccer game the one boy wanted to take pictures. So here is my team after we just scored a goal. We have a lot of fun.
